Town Of Windsor Field Maintenance Worker in Windsor, Colorado

DescriptionWork Schedule: Varies (weekdays, weekends, evenings)Hiring Range: $13.93 - $14.61 per hour.NATURE OF WORK: As a member of the Parks, Recreation and Culture team,incumbents in this seasonal position perform routine maintenance work, whichinvolves a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks and manual labor insupport of the maintenance of athletic fields, parks, rights-of-way,open space properties, facilities and other town sites. Seasonal operationsare performed mainly outdoors and/or at municipal buildings, parks orother town sites or properties.Most positions work Monday through Friday, which may also require weekendand evening hours on a regular or occasional basis. This temporary employmentmay be scheduled through the year on a full-time basis depending on the needsof the town, but will not exceed six months (or 1,040 hours, whichevercomes first).Please note that Town employees (including seasonal employees) may only beemployed in one classification at any one given time.Incumbents in the position are required to perform work in a manner consistentwith and exemplary of the Town's PRIDE philosophies and the Town's EqualOpportunity Employment policy.SUPERVISION RECEIVED Incumbents work under the direct supervision of theRecreation Supervisor to carry out assigned duties, functions, roles,and projects in both routine and complex circumstances.SUPERVISION EXERCISED No supervisory responsibilities or control exercised.Essential job FunctionsThe Field Maintenance Worker role is assigned specific assignments, jobduties, scope, authority, responsibility, roles and requirements asdetermined by the Town, department, division, and pursuant to laws,regulation and practices. Incumbents in this position must be able tosuccessfully perform, be responsible for, and/or assist in thefulfillment of many job functions and duties, with or without reasonableaccommThe following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primaryfunctions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive:Performs general athletic field maintenance including game preparation andfield painting/chalking.Grounds maintenance, which may include mowing, edging, trimming,planting, and/or weeding.Performs turf maintenance including repairing damaged sod.Assists in maintenance of irrigation systems including troubleshooting andrepair minor construction.Building maintenance, which may include repairs using various hand and powertools or equipment.Equipment maintenance, which may include benches, picnic tables andshelter repair.Custodial work, which may include sweeping, mopping, painting,cleaning, picking up waste and debris, at ball parks, park locations,and parks restrooms.Collection/disposal of yard waste materials using town vehicles and equipment.Performs regular safety inspections and maintains accurate records/reports.Notifies supervisor of all safety hazards and issues in a timely manner.Complies with town and departmental rules and regulations, polices, andprocedures.Performs other duties as assigned.OTHER DUTIESDepending on organizational need, additional duties may include the following:Performs research as directed, such as discovering new technology ortools, market research, etc.Performs related duties as established by law/ordinance or reasonablydirected by the Town.Assists other Town departments/divisions, as necessary.Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesEDUCATION and EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or GEDMust be age 18 or olderSix (6) months of previous experience in related fieldPrevious knowledge of athletics desiredLICENSES OR CERTIFICATESMust have a current Colorado Driver's License or the ability to obtain oneupon hire, and a satisfactory driving recordKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:Ability to communicate professionally, clearly and effectively with peopleinside and outside the organization using verbal and written methods.Ability to perform the necessary functions of the position and to makeappropriate decisions consistent with th
