The Service Manager is responsible for helping to maximize the productivity, readiness, technical acuity, throughput, profitability, quality assurance, reputation and safety of Blue Sky’s hvac, plumbing and boiler service and installation operations.

The Service Manager must be a self-starter, possess excellent communications skills and be customer-focused at all times. This employee must be willing to learn and practice new concepts in an industry that is ever-changing as well as continuing to educate him/herself apart from that knowledge gained merely through his/her day to day work. This employee must be a supporter of all Company goals, policies, pricing and other directives deemed necessary by the General Manager. This employee must be capable of applying sound, fair judgment in all levels of decision-making and situations he/she encounters.

A Service Manager’s primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Act as a Lead and provide back-up to all technical assignments.

  • Establish yourself as the “go-to” technical resource for all field team members.

  • Ride alongs and inspections of Journeymen and Apprentice Service Techs and Installation Techs.

  • Identifying and correcting technical and other problems in the areas of Service, Repair, Installation and Replacement.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction at all times and work to resolve any customer problems.

  • Analyze our services and make recommendations as top how they may be improved.

  • Must be committed to repairs and installations that meet or exceed building codes.

  • Provide support by phone and in person at any time that the Company’s forces are engaged in service and installation operations.

  • Must be able to communicate and problem-solve with customers, foremen, General Contractors and our own field and office teams.

  • Helps ensure that jobs and tasks are completed correctly and in a timely manner and to the customer’s satisfaction.

  • Provide scheduled regular technical training to field team members.

  • Schedule and lead field staff meetings.

  • Keep and maintain test equipment and procedures sufficient to accomplish troubleshooting, problem-solving and other Company goals.

  • Instructs field employees about proper installation and service of products and building codes.

  • Train, coach and assist in disciplining and evaluating the work of field employees.

  • Required to understand, abide by and teach others on company and safety policies.

  • Required to take a proactive stance on Safety and report any concerns or violations immediately to the General Manager.

  • Cultivate and encourage positive engagement and a healthy engaging culture.


This candidate must be fully confident in his/her abilities, in him/herself and the Company. Candidate must understand and support the Company Mission Statement and candidate’s interactions with all Blue Sky staff must reflect this belief. Must be familiar with plumbing, hvac and boiler systems and maintain a very high degree of service and installation technical abilities. Must be able to speak to Company product lines and services with a high degree of accuracy. Must be able to effectively lead his charges towards work that meets the needs of and that is in the best interest of customers, with the end goal of producing a profitable result for the Company. Candidate must have a pleasant, professional demeanor and be able to demonstrate empathy for both customers and co-workers alike. Must prove capable of applying sound problem-solving skills.

  • Minimum qualifications include, and are not limited to, the following:

  • Must have current CFC certification and be fully experienced in the service, maintenance, repair, installation and replacement of forced air and other comfort systems, and must keep these skills and certifications up to date. Boiler and other technical experience would be a plus.

  • High School diploma or GED certificate and must, at a minimum have completed a full course of direct study in HVAC and associated technical skills training.

  • Must be experienced and be able to show proof of no less than 5 years of direct technical skills.

  • Must be experienced and be able to show proof of no less than 2 years direct leadership skills.

  • May substitute relevant experience on a year-to-year basis for the forgoing requirements.

  • Must have strong handwriting and computer keyboard skills and show the skill to use an iPad.

  • Must be able to train and guide field employees to do the same, if assigned.

  • Must be fully versed in understanding and communicating in English language in both oral and written forms in order to clearly communicate effectively to your reports.

  • Must have a clear driving record and a valid Colorado license.

  • Must own the basic selection of hand tools, torch and multi-meter. Purchase assistance is available.
