Job DescriptionAs a Regional Exploration Manager with Terracon, you willmanage a region with teams of employees responsible for exploration services.This position could be located in Denver, Colorado or somewhere in theWestern Operating Group.Job Level Description:Execute the initiatives of regional exploration services including developmentof drilling safety practices/initiatives, drill rig inspection programsand compliance.Oversee and ensure consistent operations and practices of regional teams byproviding training, drill rig safety inspections, andmonitoring/balancing workload [employees, rigs and projects].Monitor the performance of regional teams through site visits, safetyincident and near miss investigations, quality audits and metrics.Provide leadership and direction on drilling practices and rigutilization/fleet management to local offices.Partner with other Regional Exploration Managers to develop and delivercoordinated and consistent exploration services across all regions.Monitor safety, quality, and production of regional teams and providerecommendations for improvement to Division/Service Line Management.Assist local offices with marketing activities related to exploration servicesincluding pricing, planning and drill methods.Participate and provide input in the recruitment, interview and selectionprocess for drillers.Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar withwhat could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company. Be familiarwith company risk policies.Communicates safety initiatives, rules and guidelines for Office or Region.Holds Managers and Employees accountable for following safety rules andguidelines.Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Ensure bestpractices are being followed and hold Managers accountable for quality controlstandards.Knowledge & Skills:Bachelor's degree in technical discipline practiced by the Firm includingEngineering or Geology and/or combination equivalent education andexperience totaling a minimum of 9 years.Experience as a drill operator and/or drilling manager may be substitutedfor educationMinimum 5 years' site exploration experience.3-5 year's management experience preferred.Proficient knowledge of multiple drilling methods including mud rotary,auger and coring techniques.Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.RequiredCertification:OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour course; must attend within 90 days of hire.PreferredCertification:Certification or licensure in field of expertise.Work Environment & PhysicalRequirements* This job family requires individuals to occasionally work outside invarying weather conditions as well as being able to lift a minimum of 50pounds with occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds (i.e., drill bits,augers, soil samples, well supplies, etc). Exposure to wet and/orhumid conditions and moving mechanical parts. Position requires the employeeto regularly stand, walk, stoop, or kneel; use hands to finger,handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk orhear. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Frequenttravel up to 50-75%.
