Job DescriptionGeneral Responsibilities:All work shall adhere to safety standards as described below. Performsubsurface exploration duties using conventional drilling or in-situ testingtechniques. Drilling may include auger drilling, mud rotary drilling, airrotary and diamond bit coring techniques. In-situ testing techniques mayinclude cone penetration testing (CPT) and seismic cone penetrationtesting (SCPT) equipment, pressure meter and other, related apparatus.Work also includes installation of instrumentation, piezometers and monitorwells. Work as part of a multiple person team on projects. Field locaterequired exploration points and determine elevations of points. Develop sitereconnaissance information. Load soil samples, exploration tools andinstrumentation/well installation tools and supplies onto trucks or drillrigs. Prepare and review boring logs using Unified Soil Classification System(USCS) and basic standard rock classifications and site description forms.Prepares United States (US) Department of Transportation (DOT)paperwork, as required. Provide input as to how to best perform explorationtasks. Report required maintenance to supervisor and perform maintenance tasksEssential Role and Responsibilities:Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participatein pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.This is an entry level position designed to train the individual in thevarious aspects of becoming a driller/exploration team member includingequipment maintenance (i.e. augers, bits, etc.), equipmentoperation, basic survey and leveling equipment, and a general knowledge ofreading civil plans.Trained in duties pertaining to test borings, CPT and SCPT explorationand/or installation of groundwater monitoring wells.Acts as an assistant to the lead operator to help perform routine explorationtasks.Drives medium duty trucks to various job sites.Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent.Limited or no experience requiredValid driver's license with acceptable violation history.Ability to obtain Medical Card within first 30 days of employmentAbout TerraconTerracon is a 100 percent employee-owned consulting engineeringfirm providing quality services to clients.
