Job Description:
Parsons is now hiring a Senior Systems / MEP Estimator for our rapidly expanding transportation projects. We need this individual to perform a variety of estimating activities on hard dollar bids and proposals for Bid-Build, Design-Build, and other forms of alternative delivery project pursuits.
The Estimator should have a minimum of 10 years of a combination of field and estimating experience for an at-risk direct hire electrical contractor. Conceptual / Design Build Experience a plus. The ideal candidate will have experience on Highway / DOT, Industrial, Commercial, & Water / Wastewater projects. Rail Transit Systems - Communications/train control/overhead contact systems/traction power Experience a plus.
Major Responsibilities:
Review project plans and specifications in detail
Prepare quantity takeoffs (electrical & systems)
Determine effective means and methods with which to build the work
Collaborate with fellow estimators and construction engineering team
Communicate - share ideas, concerns, brainstorm, ask questions
Estimate the work in ACCU BID preferred, not essential.
Create activities accurately reflecting the means and methods of the work
Develop crews and production rates
Coordinate with scheduler to ensure production rates make sense
Compare productivity rates with historical data
Input subcontractor and material quotes
Coordinate with team to ensure all contract scope is covered
Notate assumptions, important specs, methodology, etc. in estimate for clarity during review
Understand and express estimate in NECA assembly format & audit trail.
Solicit quotes from subcontractors, material suppliers, and subconsultants
Initiate contact with subcontractors, material suppliers, and sub consultants.
Relay all required information and keep line of communication open with subcontractor
Finalize pricing prior to bid close
Ensure subcontractor coverage for all required scope
Pursue multiple quotes per scope
Participate in bid reviews
Present and explain estimate to managers in bid review meetings
Ensure good notation of methodology in estimate to facilitate bid review
Note any changes proposed and adjust estimate accordingly
Participate in Design-Build projects
Coordinate and communicate with designers and partners during estimate
Share ideas and concepts during design phase to ensure the lowest-cost option
Participate in technical working groups
Reconcile quantities and estimate with partners
Participate in Joint Venture bid review meetings
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of related work experience involving typical estimating activities.
Previous experience using estimating database supported software.
Ability to perform difficult estimating activities typical to the engineering and construction industry is required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills Familiarity with company and project procedures and practices.
Familiarity with typical project controls software such as Primavera scheduling software, Estimate/Schedule Transfer tools, Contract Manager, and DMCS (Document and Materials Control System) is required.
Must have a clear understanding of, and ability to work with, construction contract commercial documents, engineering drawings and specifications, and be qualified to be an estimate team leader.
The anticipated annualized full time target compensation (median) for this position is: $120,000.00.Benefits for this position include: medical, dental, vision, paid time off, Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and 401K.
