Job Title: Streets, Alleys, and Parks SupervisorMusts: High School Diploma/GED and four years experience in streetsmaintenance and/or infrastructureconstruction trades or equivalent combination of education and experience.Current Class B Commercial Driver s License (CDL) or ability to obtainwithin three months of hire. Employee is required to pass a pre-employmentalcohol/drug test and will be subject to regular testing as required forthose people with a CDL.Skills/Knowledge/Abilityies: Knowledge and skills in street and roadmaintenance practices and techniques including the operation of variousvehicles and equipment related to street, alley, storm water, andirrigation systems.Knowledge of MUTCD signage regulations and the proper placement of temporaryand permanenttraffic control devices.Knowledge and skill in maps, identification of right of ways, and civilengineering practices related tostreet, alley, storm water, and irrigation systems maintenance.Ability to work with the public to plan and implement improvements to theparks, including, but notlimited to working with volunteers on parks improvement projects.Ability to work with civil engineers and other professionals to ensureinfrastructure and maintenance projects best meet the employer s needs.Duties: This is a working supervisor position that plans, directs,coordinates, and participates in day-to-day street maintenance, signmaintenance, street sweeping, alley maintenance, building and buildingsystems maintenance and improvement, and oversees parks maintenance andimprovement.Supervises, plans, implements, and participates in the day-to-daymaintenance of streets, signs, andalleys overseeing and operating a variety of vehicles, equipment and heavyequipment in the performance of duties.Supervises, directs, conducts, and when necessary contracts themaintenance of vehicles and equipment.Responds to calls for assistance to conduct maintenance and improvement ofbuildings and buildingsystems and when necessary contracts such work.Works with Administrator to plan and recommend budgets and projects andmanages budget and projects related to streets, alley, and storm water andirrigation system maintenance that has been determined to exceed thecapabilities of staff.Directs and supervises maintenance, repair, and improvements in city parksincluding Wild Waters Water Park.Other duties as assigned can vary day to day based on identified needs ofemployer.Physical Requirements:Medium Lifting: Must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally and/or applyup to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds constantly tomove objects.Must be able to stand, walk, crawl, crouch, reach, touch, grasp,finger, balance, stoop, push, pull, talk,and hearWorker is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and/orequipment.Worker is subject to outside conditions with no protection other than clothingand seasonaltemperatures less than 32 degrees F or more than 90 degrees F for periodslonger than two hours.Worker is subject to noise up to and including noise that requires use ofhearing protection.Worker is required to wear a respirator as job conditions demand.Worker may be exposed to infectious disease and will be required to wearprotection as individualconditions demand.Pay: Negotiable; depending on qualifications.
