Hensel Phelps Estimator - Plains District in Thornton, Colorado

Estimators support the estimating team in the development of subcontractor costs and estimates based on CSI Division, playing a large role in reaching GMP for our projects. They develop estimates for all Hensel Phelps self-performed work including concrete and formwork, building specialties, carpentry, millwork, and other finishes. Estimators are responsible for the development of subcontractor and supplier scopes of work and monitoring the subcontractor pricing with the architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.

Essential job functions include:

  • Read and understand plans and specifications for major/complex projects

  • Prepare a thorough take-off of quantities for their scope of work

  • Be able to thoroughly review subcontractor pricing and prepare a comprehensive bid tab analysis

  • Proficiency in computer skills. Able to adapt and learn programs such as On Screen Take-Off, Building Connected, Sage Timberline, and 3D programs such as Assemble or Revit

  • Able to survey self-work scopes such as building specialties, carpentry, millwork, and some finishes

  • Understanding of subcontractor/supplier relationships to the ongoing success of Hensel Phelps

Previous Experience with:

  • Subcontractor management

  • RFI development

  • Production reporting

  • Submittal reviewing

  • Change order pricing

Preferred qualifications:

  • Possess good communications skills and be detail oriented

  • Computer software - Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel based templates

  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in estimating on large commercial construction projects

  • A 4 year degree in Civil, Structural, Architecture or Construction Management
