PUEBLO COUNTY GOVERNMENT Weatherization Technician I in Pueblo, Colorado

Position: WEATHERIZATION TECHNICIAN IDuties: Work involves weatherizing homes to improve energy efficiency.Workers work as crews, performing building construction and related dutiesto install insulation and perform other work to reduce energy losses ofdwellings. Work requires use of common and specialized hand and power tools.Employees receive instruction for each phase of the work on the job and workis checked by crew chiefs for adequacy.Installs blown-in and batt insulation in site-built and mobile home attics,sidewalls, floors and underbellies, subspace areas, vapor barriers andwater blankets.Replaces incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent lamps.Installs low-flow showerheads.Performs routine weatherization improvements as a member of a team rotatingduties, which include energy audits, furnace tune-ups, safety tests onfurnaces and appliances of various types, furnace replacements, air ductsealing and repairs and client education.Air duct sealing to include blower door usage, sealing bypasses, appliescaulking and weather stripping, repairs broken glass and sealing ducts.Performs air sealing, duct sealing and the installation of insulation andbase load measures.Cleans and adjusts furnaces, checks heat exchangers, belts,thermostats, and switches. Installs furnace filters.Installs weather-stripping, storm windows, doors and other energyconservation materials.Educates clients about energy saving methods and techniques, and informsthem about weatherization work performed.Completes paperwork and accurately documents material and labor usage.Assists co-workers in completing accurate and thorough paperwork.Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.Fills in for other staff as necessary and/or required.Attends meetings, classes and trainings as required or requested bysupervisor.Encouraged to recommend changes to improve procedures that would result inefficiencies, cost savings and safety.Communicates actively, clearly and regularly with supervisor and co-workerson all work-related topics.Understands, observes and complies with all Governmental, Pueblo Countyand Departmental policies, procedures and protocols when performing jobduties.Possesses excellent oral and written skills to communicate effectively.Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with Pueblo Countyemployees from same or different departments/offices, entities and customers.Effectively manages multiple projects at once.Effectively deals with stressful situations.Easily adapts to sudden and unexpected changes in work assignments.Requirements:Education: High school diploma or GED equivalencyone-year experience performing building construction work required.Valid driver's license at the time ofapplication and a valid Colorado driver's license at time of hire.Other Requirements:Able to pass post job offer physical screening.Must successfully pass background check.Basic ProficiencyKnowledge of the methods and procedures used in reducing energy losses ofhomes.Knowledge of the materials, equipment and procedures required to accomplishenergy conservation improvements.Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to routineweatherization work in confined workspaces.Follows verbal and written instructions.Ability to determine square footage, other mathematical calculations, asneeded.Wage: $2,680.00 - $4,020.00 Monthly, non -exemptShift: Must work shift work, weekends, hours are typically 8:00am - 5:00pmholidays, subject to on call dutyJob Site: Pueblo, CO (and Pueblo County)Benefits: 17 Holidays/yr, sick and vacation leave, health, vision,dental insurance.
