Brief Posting Description


The Blast and Production Supervisor role is accountable for the safe execution of production activities. The role requires a high level of energy and safety leadership.


  • Direct, maintain, and enforce safety programs for production department crew; promote a safety culture and work environment that supports the goal of zero incidents.

  • Ensure 100% regulatory compliance.

  • Supervise and assign the work of production department crew members ensuring plans are met in the areas of safety, mine plan, quality and efficiency.

  • Develop and deliver performance reviews for assigned staff.

  • Assess training needs and schedule appropriate training for assigned staff.

  • Support the efficient and accurate execution of the Mine Plan.

  • Provide input and support to the Department Manager for the development of the Mine Plan.

  • Responsible for implementing operational plans that utilize equipment and personnel in a manner that meets cost, production and coal quality goals.

  • Facilitate and lead team in implementing changes as needed to ensure continuous improvement in the areas of drilling and blasting, environmental, and production support.

  • Maintain leadership standards that foster positive employee relations, encourages participation, communication, and employee development opportunities.

  • Maintain effective working relationships with other functional areas and outside contacts concerning equipment and production needs.

  • Assist with root cause analysis and investigations of incidents.

  • Maintains an open dialogue and two-way communication throughout the organization.

  • Clearly communicates performance standards and expectations and holds team members accountable

  • Personally demonstrates desired values, behaviors, and work practices for the team.

  • Consistently achieves targeted results.

  • Manage orders and deliveries of drill and blast consumables in order to maintain sufficient inventories.

  • Complete compliant reporting as required by DRMS, ATF, APCD, and others as required.

  • Develop optimum drill and blast designs with onsite engineering staff and professional consultants.

  • Plan, schedule, and manage environmental projects as well as ongoing maintenance of compliance points.

  • Adhere to company policies, programs and procedures as well as Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), and Midwest Reliability Organization (MRO) standards and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws and regulations.

Safety: Maintain safety awareness and comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures to assure a safe working environment. Properly wear and care for applicable safety gear and equipment. Identify and communicate unsafe conditions to supervisor, coworkers, and the Safety functional area and correct or assist in resolving safety concerns and issues. Must understand and comply with the Clearance Procedure as applicable.

CCC Supervisor Production

Hiring Annual Wage: $81,821.00 to $102,276.00

Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary outside of the posted hiring range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.

Education and Training:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent;

  • A related technical degree may substitute for some experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams safely and personally model leadership and safety behaviors.

  • Strong background with experience in dragline, truck/shovel, hydraulic excavator and front-end loader mining systems.

  • Must possess or immediately acquire Surface Mine Foreman Certification from the Colorado Division of Mines.

  • Must possess or Colorado Type I Explosives Permit within two years of hire date.

  • Ability to utilize AutoCAD to view, evaluate, and design blast patterns.


  • Requires 5 years surface multi-seam, steep pitching coal mining experience and demonstrated leadership ability.


  • Valid driver's license

Physical demands: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is primarily required to stand, sit, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, drive and operate heavy equipment and trucks. Incumbent may be required to lift items weighing up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Mental demands: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is required to read, write, analyze and review data and prepare related reports, exercise judgment and work independently, assist with making decisions concerning equipment maintenance.

Work Environment: Drives cars, trucks, and service trucks. Works near hazardous machinery. Walks on uneven ground, exposed to dust, noise, solvents, and working at heights.
