Area of InterestManufacturingSalary/HourlyHourlyGeneral SummaryAssembler I is responsible for fabricating component parts or assembling thefinished product according to the customer specifications. Works underimmediate supervision; relies on specific direction and instructions.Principal Duties/ResponsibilitiesSecures and maintains correct component parts and supplies required for theoperation.Completes work area set up.Fits parts together in accordance with prescribed instructions and inaccordance with quality standards.Operates hand tools as required to complete assembly process.Stacks completed products in accordance with established procedures, and ifrequired, may cover, label, and band components/finished product.Ensures work area is safe, clean and organized, and that equipment is safeto operate.Completes pre-shift/startup equipment inspection checklist and reports anyproblems or concerns.Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.Maintains production records as required.Checks materials and finished products to ensure they are compliant withstandards.Performs duties consistent with established safety and quality procedures,rules, and standards.Participates in safety, CI and other programs and meetings.Performs other duties as assigned.RequirementsKnowledgeHigh school diploma/GED preferred but not requiredNo minimum experience is required; however, 6 months of manufacturing andassembling experience is preferred.Working knowledge of basic math.Must be at least 18 years of age.Skills and abilitiesAbility to work in a safe mannerAbility to recognize size/grade/quality of materialDemonstrates ability to follow specific instructions and directionsDemonstrate ability to use and operate hand toolsDemonstrate ability to stack material properlyAbility to pay attention to surroundingsAbility to identify safety issues in their work area, and notice equipmentmalfunctionsAbility to understand basic verbal and written instructions in English.Ability to read a tape measureAbility to troubleshoot nail gun machines and other similar hand heldequipment.Demonstrate hand-eye coordinationAbility to work under immediate supervisionAbility to pass a drug testAbility to work hours mandated by managementConductSafety consciousTeam player and goal orientedOpen to change and positive attitudeCommitted to plant and company goalsParticipates in Safety and CI programsPunctual and reliableLooks for ways to improve productivity and department resultsPosition will require bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching,crawling, lifting/carrying over 25 lbs, pushing/pulling, twisting,standing and walking.Universal Forest Products and its subsidiaries and affiliates are equalopportunity employers.
