Centennial Water And Sanitation District Collection And Distribution System Mechanic I in Highlands Ranch, Colorado

GENERAL PURPOSE:Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks which result in theefficient and effective operation and maintenance of pipelines and equipmentused in the collection, distribution, storage, and processing of waterand wastewater. Responds to emergency call-outs.SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Works under the supervision of the Lead Lines System Mechanic.SUPERVISION EXERCISED:May supervise temporary staff or other staff as assigned.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Performs inspections, preventative and corrective maintenance on theDistrict's water distribution and wastewater collection equipment andfacilities including repairs and replaces broken pipes, valves,hydrants, PRVs, curb stops, and other system appurtenances that mayrequire working in a ditch, mud, and confined spaces. Ability to performminor and major repairs to the collection and distribution system underemergency conditions (i.e. sewer backups, water main breaks, waterservice leak2. Uses video inspection and jetting equipment to clean and maintain thecollection system.3. Performs utility locates of the District's water and wastewater facilities.4. Enters and exits confined spaces such as underground vaults and manholes.5. Responsible for all tools, equipment, and vehicles assigned or used.6. Provides water quality monitoring and reporting of system as required.7. Loads, unloads, and transports equipment and personnel in District8. Performs work in accordance with safety policies and procedures.9. Coordinates activities with other divisions and sections to avoidinterruption of service.10. Routinely interacts with the public and the District's customers toresolve customer concerns.11. Provides other Operations staff and management detailed updates on thestatus of customer service calls through the use of e-mails and text messages.12. Maintains written activity reports, inspection reports, and otherrecords on a daily basis.13. Responds to emergency call-outs.14. Performs other duties as assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License with anacceptable Motor Vehicle record. Availability to work non-scheduled hours when necessary. Must be able to resond to the District Facilities within approximately30 minutes while on-call.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge in working with Microsoft Office suite; Word, Excel and PowerPoint Knowledge with City Works software.JOB LEVELS FOR CandD SYSTEM MECHANIC:(Proficiency with heavy equipment may allow for higher pay)Collection and Distribution Mechanic Apprentice No experience in collection and distribution maintenance. Required to pass the Colorado Class 1 Distribution Operator or ColoradoClass 1 Collection Operator or Class D Water Treatment Operator certificationsexam within 1 year of hire.Collection and Distribution Mechanic I One year experience in collection and distribution maintenance.Required to have the Colorado Class 1 Distribution Operator and Colorado Class1 Collection OperatorNECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:1. Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and points of viewas part of a team.2. Ability to follow through on tasks and adapt to changing priorities,process conditions, and circumstances.3.
