Weld County Government Electrical Inspector I/II in Greeley, Colorado

DescriptionPerform technical inspection work in the administration of the Weld CountyBuilding Code, the National Electrical Code and other applicable codes andcounty regulations.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform eachessential duty satisfactorily. (any oneposition may not include all of the duties listed nor do the listed examplesinclude all duties which may be found in positions of this class.)Inspect electrical conductors and equipment providing service to and in anybuilding or structure to ensure that the construction or installation is incompliance with the National Electrical Code. Make recommendations forcorrections; work with contractor to help resolve routine problems withelectrical projects. Inspect new construction during various stages ofconstruction, and remodeling, to ensure compliance with adopted codes.Respond to questions and provide information about construction siteinspections and work found not to be in compliance with plans,specifications or adopted codes.Review submitted electrical drawings, plans, and specifications approvingand disapproving as required.Schedule inspections to be made daily to minimize drive time. Responsible forinsuring that adequate work is scheduled for that particular day; Cooperatewith other inspectors in conducting inspections; prepare reports ofconstruction work completed and inspections conducted; Maintain routinerecords and files as directed. Log mileage driven daily and maintain files asnecessary.Insure that county vehicle is maintained and clean.Investigate complaints, filling appropriate reports, correspondence withpossible court appearance and testimony. Communicate anticipated and currentproblems to supervisor. Assist Planning Department personnel in conductingfield inspections related to administration and enforcement for the WeldCounty Code.Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation:High school graduation or equivalent.Experience:Two years of construction experience, including at least one year ofbuilding inspection experience.Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Additional Requirements:Must possess State of Colorado Journeyman Electrician's License, and avalid Colorado driver's license.Must possess an ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector Certification and aminimum of one certification from the following areas: ICC BuildingInspector Certification, ICC Plumbing Inspector Certification, ICCMechanical Inspector Certification, ICC Plans Examiner CertificationAdditional certifications will be required, positions and pay grade will beadjusted accordingly. As the inspector acquires additional certifications andin turn additional knowledge and expertise, it is expected that thisknowledge and expertise be used and applied during inspections.Other Necessary RequirementsPhysical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must bemet by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of thisjob.
