The Service Writer acts as the liaison between the customer and Transwest whenservice is required. By providing one consistent source of information for theclient, technicians and shop foreman are able to perform their duties withminimal interruptions. By coordinating with the customer, obtaininginformation, and creating an accurate repair order, the Service Writer isthe gateway to accurate and reliable service. Our goal is to serve ourcustomers in a prompt, courteous and efficient manner.We offer a full benefits package including medical, dental, life,disability insurance, 401(K), HSA match, FSA, paid time off and anemployee car discount program for eligible employees.ESSENTIAL DUTIES andRESPONSCommunicate with customers by quickly responding to inquiries.Answer service calls and deliver timely updates to clients regarding statusupdates on work being performed and scheduling work.Greet customers who enter the location.Interview customers in a professional manner to determine the needed repairs.Obtain all necessary information from the customer to establish a businessrelationship.Create a repair order by identifying current vehicle condition, estimatedrepair time, getting quotes/estimates from the shop if necessary, supplyany supporting documentation and obtain work authorization.Creation and invoice the repair order.Review work performed with customer and collect payment.Communicate with Shop Foreman on pertinent repair information and updates.Review repairs with the customer and collect payment.Other duties as assigned by the manager.WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL ABILITIES:Requires frequent sitting, standing, balancing, bending or stooping forprolonged periods of time.Required to perform work inside and outside, in all-weather situations, atthe shop division location.Manual dexterity, fine manipulation and the ability to reach with hands andarms and lift up to 80 lbs.Must be able to operate simple to complex and heavy-duty machinery.Normal range of hearing and vision.REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE,KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:High school diploma or equivalent.Valid Driver's License and MVR in good standing.Ability to obtain a CDL within 90 days of employment (diesel, RV servicedepartments).Ability to multi-task.Detail oriented.Previous experience as a service writer or advisor required.Knowledge of diesel engines, gas engines, drive train and suspension is aplus.Exemplary customer relation skills.Heavy and medium duty truck industry experience is a plus.Excellent verbal and communication skills.Proficient using computers.Ability to work any shift, including nights.Ability to successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment and passpost-offer background check, physical and drug screening.JOB DETAILS:Type: HourlyCompensation Range: $18.00 to $25.00/hrBonus Eligibility: NoReports To: Service ManagerClosing Date: Open until filled.Date Posted: 01-05-2021All qualified applications will receive consideration for employment withoutregard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, genderidentity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.Transwest is an equal opportunity employer.
