We continue to remainat the forefront of the testing services industry, building an enviablereputation.Primary Objective:Supervisor - Specialty Laboratory Area 1 will be responsible for Ensuring theefficient running of the laboratory, advising the department manager of anypossible ways to increase productivity and efficiency through equipmentupgrading, method enhancements or implementation of new technology; anydeficiencies in staff numbers, training, consumable stock and newproducts. This individual will manage all employee issues.ALS EnvironmentalResponsibilities Supervisor - Specialty Laboratory Area 1 has the following duties:* Oversees staff within the section.* Maximizes efficiency and productivity in the section.* Fosters a work ethic within the section that increases productivity by:- Ensuring resources are utilized effectively and efficiently- Minimizes wastage (e.g. solvent)- Reducing breakages (e.g. glassware)- Optimizes the work hours within the laboratory- Addressing staff moral and performance issues, informing the businessmanager/laboratory manager/senior chemist, where necessary.* Maintains an acceptable turnaround of tasks or results within the section,including meeting holding times. Additionally, will contribute toefficiencies in this area on continual basis.* Ensures all duties within the section are conducted in accordance with theQuality Procedures Manual. Keeping up to date with changes in methodologywithin the section. Will work with QA to update SOP's and manuals asnecessary.* Work with other supervisors and managers to achieve client satisfaction onTAT, improve and maintain relationships to other sections.* Training and developing of laboratory employees.* Assist in monitoring instrument performance and identify deviations fromspecification and notifying Management if the instrument is not operating tospecifications, including when instrument QC falls outside control limits.* Maintains a working knowledge of and ensures compliance to Quality Systemincluding the manual, system procedures (QMSPs) and procedures asapplicable to ISO 17025.* Be aware of requirements for laboratory competence* Other duties as assigned.Qualifications Position Requirements:* B.S. is preferred.* A.A. is required.* 0-10 years of laboratory experience is preferred.* 1 + year of supervisor experience is preferred.Core Competencies:* Proficient verbal and written communication skills.* Ensuring the quality of the lab is maintained at the level that meets orexceeds the QC targets set out in the QC manual.* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.* Ensuring instrument repairs, maintenance and calibration schedules arecarried out (e.g. ovens, balances etc.)* Assessing results of QA/QC audits and implement improvements as required.* Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office.
