ResponsibilitiesSpecifically, this position:Performs manual trail construction; construct, repair, and maintainmultiple-use trails.Constructs related structures such as retaining walls, stairs, fences,and safety railings.Operates equipment used in the performance of assigned tasks including all-terrain vehicles, four-wheel drive vehicles, and tractors with associatedimplements, chain saws, and hand and power tools.Performs arduous, heavy, physical labor involved in assigned park trailsconstruction and maintenance duties for extended periods of time; work outof doors in all weather conditions as required.Provides lead accountability for other employees within work unit, which mayinclude scheduling, assigning and reviewing work, instructing/trainingin work methods, and providing input into hiring and performance evaluationproParticipates in the design and layout of new trail construction projects.Assigns, trains, directs, and supervises activities of assigned staff,ensuring adherence to established policies, procedures, and standards;assist and supervise subordinates, as necessary, resolving problems asnon-routine situations arise.Assists in organizing and administering volunteer and community serviceprojects related to park trails construction and maintenance.To view the fulljob description, click .The ideal candidate will:Have experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similarduties and responsibilities.Have the equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college oruniversity.Have major coursework in Park Maintenance or a related field supplemented bysome specialized training in advanced trail construction and maintenance,outdoor recreation, park maintenance, or related field.Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.Have regular, predictable attendance.Know the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in park trailsconstruction and maintenance.Be able to accomplish the assigned workload in a timely manner and meetestablished performance standards and objectives.Be able to perform physically demanding labor in a variety of weatherconditions in remote locations.Have supervisor experience. QualificationsTwo (2) years of experience in a directly related field or in theperformance of similar duties and responsibilities required.Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or universitywith major coursework in Park Maintenance or a related field supplemented bysome specialized training in advanced trail construction and maintenance,outdoor recreation, park maintenance, or related field required.Possession of CPR and First Aid certifications by date of hire required.Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Driver's License required.
