Larimer County Road and Bridge Department is seeking an employee as anEquipment Operator Journey for our Drainage Team. An Equipment OperatorJourney operates a variety of heavy equipment and multi-axle trucks used inthe repair, maintenance, and construction of native, gravel and pavedroads as well as the associated structures, and appurtenances. May beassigned to any work activity at any location in Larimer County at thediscretion of the Road and Bridge Director.Specifically, an Equipment Operator Journey:May exercise direct and indirect supervision over field operations personnel.Complies with MSHA, DOT, Colorado 811 and other applicable safetyregulations and procedures.Ensures project rules, procedures, applicable laws and regulations arefollowed.Ensures all work meets departmental expectations.Establishes and maintains positive and effective working relationships withthose contacted in the performance of required duties.Operates a variety of heavy construction equipment as assigned.Equipment Operator Journeys are expected to have little to moderate HeavyEquipment experience. They operate the standard pieces of equipmentsatisfactorily, and must also be appropriately licensed and capable ofproductively operating the equipment included in their specialized categorywith minimal training.Standard: All vehicles requiring a Class B CDL, Loader, Roller,Power Broom, Mower.Specialized: Patching Machine, Crackfill Melter, Wood Chipper,Self-Propelled Sheepsfoot Compactor, Push/Pull Scraper.Qualifications:High school diploma or GED preferred. Each year of relevant progressively moreresponsible experience in the highway/street construction or maintenancefield may be substituted for one year of the education requirement.One year of heavy equipment operating experience in the roadmaintenance/road construction industry including asphalt roadwayconstruction or maintenance, roadway structure construction ormaintenance, road drainage structure construction or maintenance, roadsidedrainage systems, production of aggregate materials, hauling and placingof roadway maintenance and construction materials, and work zone practices.Operation of a vehicle requiring a Class B CDL.Possession of, and ability to maintain a Class "B" CDL Driver'sLicense with an N Tanker endorsement and without the followingrestrictions: L -air brake, O no/Trctr/Trlrrestriction(s), "E" -No manual transmission, "X"-No cargo inCMV tank vehicle or "Z" - No full air brake equipped CMV.Ability to obtain an X Haz-mat/Tanker endorsement within 6 months ofemployment or within 6 months of turning 21 years old.Possession of, and ability to maintain a DOT Medical Certificate.Ability to obtain a Colorado Flaggers Certification within six months ofemployment.Other Information to Note:To apply for this position you must complete the application.
