Broadband Technician IJob LocationsUS-CO-Estes ParkID2020-15958CompanyTDS Cable OperationsOverviewThe Broadband Technician I position performs basic installations,disconnects and service changes for residential and business customers. Theseservices include, but are not limited to, video service, HSD Services,and home phone service and installation. This role performs basictroubleshooting from the tap to the customer's electronic devices (TV,DVD, Modem etc.). This position will assist with installing, splicing,repairing and maintaining aerial, buried, and/or underground fiber opticand co** This position has a work shift of 8 AM - 5 PM Monday-Friday**ResponsibilitiesPerform connects (new connects and reconnects), disconnects (requestedand non-pays), upgrades, downgrades, and relocates; installadditional outlets and install or remove equipment (i.e. converters)Perform basic installation of all necessary cable wiring (interior andexterior) and hardware from the tap to the customer's equipment forreception of cable and other company services that are offered for single andmulti-familyThis may include burial of underground Broadband facilities utilizingdifferent methods of placement, including excavation or hand digging for theplacement of drop facilities to customer premise, streets and right of wayand placement of conduit to customer premise, in streets and the right ofways as well as pulling of hardline into conduits after placement of conduits.Position may also be responsible for placement of conduit structure in newsubdivision joint trench construction projectsPerform all work as necessary to conform to quality control guidelines(includes compliance with requirements outlined in applicable regulationssuch as: OSHA, FCC, NEC and NESC)Assure proper signal levels and picture quality on all television sets andclean the premises of all debris and material after installation is completeMonitor and record system, drop, and in-house leakage; properly recordall required information on work orders, surveys, referrals, etcPromote cable, internet, and other company services; educate customer onproper use of the service, including how to add additional services,channel lineups, proper equipment usage, and other services that are availableQualificationsRequired QualificationsMust have and maintain a valid driver's license6+ months of customer service experience -OR- current military service, orprior military service with honorable discharge.Other QualificationsUpon hire, must successfully complete customer-specific requirements,which may include a background check administered by the customerRequires being available for on-call/standby responsibilities and mayrequire occasional travelMust be reliable and responsible, with a strong work ethic dedicated to a teamPractical knowledge/experience with computer applicationsFamiliarity with company products and servicesProven organizational skills and ability to multi-taskDemonstrated customer service and sales skills, as well as effectivecommunications skills (verbal and written) for interaction with internaland external customersAbility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environmentPhysical requirements may vary based on company needs: Ability to dig,lift and climbSuccessful completion of the SCTE Broadband Premise Install test within thefirst 3 months of employmentAbility to pass Department of Transportation physical and driver testingAt TDS, we embrace Equal Employment Opportunity by valuing our differencesand consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color,religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin,disability, status as a protected veteran or any other status protected bylaw.
