Heggem-Lundquist Paint Co Assistant Maintenance Mechanic in Denver, Colorado

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This is an entry-level mechanic position. Conducts machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance service. Maintains work and shop area and stock tools, parts and supplies. Completes written record of work performed. Performs preventative maintenance inspections. Completes repairs and parts replacements. Repairs, installs, adjusts or maintain machines or vehicles.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.

  • Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs.

  • Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.

  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service

  • Comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

  • Regular and predictable attendance –Scheduled work hours will generally require attendance Monday-Friday during the hours of 8am to 5pm.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE ‘REQUIRED’FOR THE JOB:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Experience.

  • Strong work ethic; follows through to completion and a collaborative team player.

  • Able to read and interpret procedural and instructional manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; and speak effectively with employees, customers and vendors.

  • Close vision and color vision in handling payroll responsibilities and generating and processing reports.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES THAT ARE ‘IMPORTANT FOR SUCCESS’ IN THIS POSITION:

  • Can work independently and determine how to achieve objectives of assignment, decide appropriate work methods, sequence and prioritization of work, and scheduling; knows how to operate within policy guidelines and escalate a situation if necessary.

  • None at this time

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS

  • Mechanic is is required to frequently talk and listen to others; sit at a desk; reach with the hands and arms, and use hands to finger, handle or feel; and occasionally stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

  • There is also frequent lifting of boxes, packages, equipment and miscellaneous items of up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The work environment is well-lighted, heated, air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation and moderate noise.

  • On occasion, the employee can be exposed to some air contamination (dust, paint fumes, smoke, disagreeable odors, airborne particles, etc.) and toxic or caustic chemicals in the work environment. On rare occasions, the employee will work above ground level where the possibility of falling exists.
