Vail Resorts Lift Maintenance Technician (All Levels) - Year Round in Crested Butte, Colorado

The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the safe and reliable mechanical operation of lifts, with emphasis on proficiency, instruction, safety, and leadership in all areas of Lift Maintenance.The Mechanic ensures that the Lift Mechanical Manager, Lift Dispatch, and Department Director are immediately informed and consulted on all abnormal or unusual conditions.
Entry Level
Responsibilities:
Perform preventative maintenance and repair the assigned lifts
Interact professionally with lift operations staff and assist with lift operations training
Be able to follow safety and risk management policies and procedures
Qualifications:
Knowledge of basic hand and power tools
Ability to define each major component of a lift and its purpose
Ability to lift 100 lbs. and
Able to stand for long periods of time of up to four hours
A valid US Driver's License -preferred
Ability to work on high structures, outside,and under inclement weather -required
Maintain a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays required
Be able to obtain climbing certification -required
Intermediate Level
Responsibilities:
Ensure safe and reliable mechanical operation of lifts
Follow the company’s safety and risk management policies and procedures
Perform and schedule of all preventative maintenance procedures
Ensure that lifts are in compliance with CPTSB and other applicable codes and regulations
Respond, as assigned, to lift failures to productively resolve these situations in a timely manner
Responsible for maintaining all tools, equipment, and vehicles as assigned
Responsible for recording all information of work performed on lifts and submitting lift records in a timely manner
Must be able to evacuate a lift under auxiliary power in all circumstances
Qualifications (In addition to entry level qualifications):
Minimum two years specific experience in Lift Maintenance
General understanding of ANSI and CPTSB codes
Able to complete, unassisted, detachable lift service and terminal inspections
Advanced Level
Responsibilities:
Ensures safe and reliable mechanical operation of lifts
Emphasis on proficiency, instruction, and leadership in all maintenance
Responsible for following the company’s safety and risk management policies and procedures
Responsible for performance and schedule of all preventative maintenance procedures
Responsible for assuring lifts are in compliance with all CPTSB and other applicable codes and regulations
Responsible for the performance and training of subordinates in all routine and assigned maintenance procedures under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager and Mechanic Lead
Respond, as assigned, to lift failures to productively resolve these situations in a timely manner
Assist in the ongoing training of Lift Maintenance personnel
Assist in the ongoing training and support of seasonal lift operations
Responsible for maintaining all tools, equipment, and vehicles as assigned
Responsible for recording all information of work performed on lifts and submitting lift records in a timely manner
Must be able to evacuate a lift under auxiliary power in all circumstances
Qualifications (In addition to entry and intermediate qualifications):
Must be proficient in all phases of Lift Mechanic III requirements.
Must be proficient at troubleshooting all “down” lifts.
Must maintain reasonable level of spare parts to ensure full repair capability.
High school diploma or equivalent - required
At least four years of mechanical experience - required
Proven Master-Level Lift Mechanic skills and abilities
Must be knowledgeable of regulatory codes as they pertain to lifts
Snowmobile and vehicle trained - required
Climbing certified - required
Certified Level II NDT Inspector - required
Valid Colorado Driver’s License - preferred
Basic working knowledge of desktop computer systems and applications
Read, write, and speak English
Ability to perform major lift modifications
Ability to overhaul or rebuild all line and terminal equipment
Able and willing to work in inclement weather
Intermediate level skier would be helpful
The budgeted range starts at $17.50 - $26.20. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
