Description of Job
The Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) provides services used by nearly every citizen of the State. Colorado citizens utilize identification, driver, and vehicle services at State and County offices to obtain identification cards, driver licenses, vehicle registrations, titles, and other related services. Additionally, the DMV licenses and provides oversight of private businesses and government organizations that provide driver and emission testing services. Finally, the division works closely with other state agencies and programs to provide information and education to serve the public and encourage voluntary compliance.
The employees in these positions ensure compliance with Colorado Revised Statutes and Federal laws, Department policies, rules and procedures in the issuance of Colorado documents to qualified applicants; with the primary goal of ensuring the integrity of all documents issued to Colorado residents. These positions function as the primary point of contact to customers at the State of Colorado Driver's License facilities across the State of Colorado, and as such are considered high volume customer service related positions.
The professional in this position serves as the Small Office Manager for the Craig, Colorado Motor Vehicle Driver License Office.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Overseeing the daily operations of a small driver's license office, including opening and closing the facility;
Monitors daily production, testing, office activity, workflow, and overall efficiency;
Adjusting resources and personnel, as needed, for maximum effectiveness;
Handling and resolving customer complaints;
Processing complicated, or more difficult applications;
Operating as the floor lead, relieving employees for breaks; monitoring work flow; monitoring employee schedules; etc.
Performing all functions of line staff, including issuing documents, performing drive tests, etc., when business dictates.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
Candidates shall possess good communications skills (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills, the ability to multi-task, the ability to work responsibly with confidential information, the ability to work in high-stress environments, and the demonstrated ability to assist customers in an effective, efficient, and elegant manner.
Four years of work experience in a regulatory environment in which laws, rules, and regulations put into place by federal, state or other government entities and civilian organizations are used to monitor the behavior and actions of business activities in the public interest.
College coursework in Management, Business Administration, Public Administration or similar related functional area will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preference will be given to applicants with:
2 or more years direct supervisory experience leading a workforce interacting with the general public
2 or more years department management experience, establishing performance goals and evaluating workforce performance
2 or more years experience in a regulatory environment or technical customer service workplace serving the general public
Intermediate to advanced computer and data entry skills
Driver License Fundamentals (DLF) Certified
Basic Operator Skill Training (BOST) Certified
Necessary Special Requirements
Colorado Fingerprint-based Criminal History Record Check Requirement: At the time of onsite interview, applicants to this position are required to submit fingerprints and authorize the hiring authority to complete a fingerprint-based criminal history record check through the Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation; pursuant to Colorado State Law 42-1-244 C.R.S. (2015). The department may use this information to make employment decisions concerning such employees.
