Supporting the Most Exciting and Meaningful Missions in the World Power Production ElectricianDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe primary purpose of this position is to manage, operate, inspect,test, maintain, repair, alter, and install generator systems such asdiesel and gasoline generators, automatic transfer switches/panels, allassociated mechanical and electrical systems, light-alls, and renewablepower gPerforms a variety of electrical trade functions such as, but not limitedto, the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for thegeneration, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. Work involvesmost of the following: Installing or repairing any of a variety ofelectrical equipment such as generators, motors, heating units, conduitsystems, or other transmission equipment;; locating and diagnosingtrouble in the electrical system; working standard computations relating toload requirements of wiring or electrical equipment; and using a variety ofelectrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.Performs a variety of power production electrical trade functions such as,but not limited to, the installation, removal, maintenance, oroperation of electrical power generating and control systems, automatictransfer switches, and associated equipment. Checks equipment forserviceability. Inspects, tests, and services engine oil, fuel, andcoolant gauges. Adjusts engine generator systems to maintain proper voltage,current frequency, and synchronization. Synchronizes multi-generators.Operates high and low voltage switches, circuit breakers, rheostats, andother controls. Performs inspections and interprets findings to determinecorrective action. Identifies and records engine and generator malfunctions.Uses precision test equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, and inspectsparts for excessive wear and other conditions. Removes, repairs, andreplaces defective power generating equipment components. Performs corrosioncontrol. Inspects and replaces gauges and meters. Reviews and advises onprojects associated with electrical power generating and control systems,automatic transfer switches. Reviews layout drawings and wiring diagrams.Ensures new construction meets proper operating characteristics of equipment.Establishes maintenance and operating procedures to ensure maximum efficiency.Maintains records. Posts entries on operation, inspection, and maintenancerecords. Records, wear and alignment measurements, fuel consumption, andother data in performance logs. Furnishes information for reports andrecommends changes to correct defective equipment or improve operatingprocedurPerform other related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSIn general, the work of the maintenance electrician requires roundedtraining and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship orequivalent training and experience. Must have a minimum of six (6) yearsjourney-level experience. Completed a formal apprenticeship or equivalentformal vocational/technical training program on industrial electricalsystems preferred. Four (4) years of power production experience and/or equivalent military experience; gasoline and diesel engine repairexperience preferred;. Must have the ability to effectively read, write,and speak the English language. Must maintain required city/county/statelicense(s) and/or certification(s), where applicable. HS Diplomaor equivalent required. Must be able to successfully complete a NationalAgency Check with Inquiries (Tier 1) background check. Must have andmaintain a valid CO state driver's license. Must be able to successfullycomplete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check. Must have a safedriving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a companyvehicle. Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupationalhazards and standard safety practices. Must be able to perform duties underadverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.).
