Overview We are seeking a Jr./Entry Level Composite Materials Technician tosupport our Colorado Springs, CO, production manufacturing facility'sDOD programs.The Acusil production department manufactures thermal protection materialsthat are applied to parts received from customers and these materials aremolded, cured, and machined to print so that they may be bonded ontoparts. The customers we support are large and small Aerospace companies. Themission of our team is to provide customer satisfaction for product qualityand delivery schedules while focusing internally on continuous improvement ofour processes to reduce cost, rework and repair.Our production facility is seeking a Materials Technician who will mold bond avariety of dissimilar materials (composite, metal, or laminate)assemblies, parts, components, equipment or structures intosemi-finished or finished products.Responsibilities This position will be responsible for the following:* Utilizes calibrated equipment for manufacturing processes* Lays out articles, cuts parts or materials to size.* Applies liquid or solid bonding agents.* Operates vacuum and industrial ovens to complete bonding cycle.* Controls conditions of heat, pressure, and timing by setting andoperating various controls according to the specifications for the materialsand the bonding agent being used.* Sands, burrs and smooths over areas, apply sealing resins to cut orexposed edges.* Completes repairs on composite, metal or laminate bonded products usinginspection and rework instructions.* Verifies quality of finished product.* Generates production packages including traceability.* Ability to follow detailed work instructions.* Proper chemical safety handlingQualifications REQUIRED:* Minimum requirements are a High School diploma and 0 - 2 years of relatedmanufacturing experience.PREFERRED:* Dexterity for fine detailed work* Strong communication skills* Detailed and results oriented, with solid problem-solving acumen* Ability to multitask and work independently, as well as in a teamenvironment* Experience with composite material productionSECURITY CLEARANCE:This position requires the candidate to obtain and maintain a Secret securityclearance.
