Job Description

1.0 Purpose

  • This procedure will define the responsibilities and duties of the Grounds Maintenance/Snow Removal Worker for PCSI. This position reports to the Supervisor and/or Contract or Project Manager.

2.0 Responsibilities

The overall responsibilities of the Grounds Maintenance/Snow Removal Worker fall into the following areas:

  • Performs snow removal as needed and directed. Shovels concrete and snow; cleans culverts and ditches; spreads sand and salt on icy roads and walkways; picks up leaves and trash.

  • Safely and expertly operate gators and pickup trucks. Loads and unloads trucks and other conveyances; moves supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrows or hand trucks; stacks materials for storage or binning.

  • Safely operate lawn equipment to include: riding mowers, weeding equipment, blowers, edging equipment, walk-behind mowers, etc.

  • Perform cleaning and preventive maintenance of equipment.

  • Collects refuse and salvageable materials; digs, fills, and tamps earth excavations; levels ground using pick, shovel, tamper, and rake.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

3.0 Equipment/Software

  • Experience using lawn maintenance and snow removal equipment.

4.0 Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

5.0 Experience

  • Prefer some experience in grounds/lawn maintenance, landscaping and/or snow removal.

6.0 Physical Demands

  • Ability to use tools and equipment of trade.

  • Finger dexterity and hand/eye coordination is required to operate tools and machinery.

  • Hearing and speech sufficient to verbally communicate in person and on the telephone.

  • Mobility to frequently alternate between sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping and reaching.

  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds unassisted.

7.0 Mental Demands

  • Ability to interpret policies, procedures and regulations

  • Ability to read and complete work orders

  • Ability to communicate both orally and in written format

  • Ability to work as a team member

  • Self-starter, able to work with minimal direction and supervision

8.0 Working Conditions

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and ability to drive and be an insurable driver for the Company.

  • Ability to pass background check; ability to obtain and maintain security clearance, including a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Investigation.

  • Ability to work outdoors in inclement or extreme weather.

  • Successfully pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screen.

  • Exposure to dirt, dust, odors, etc.

  • On-call for after-hours emergency calls. Must be available to work flexible hours including, but not limited to mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.
