The Facilities Technician II position exists to provide services related to building and campus maintenance. This position requires occasional supervision and refers questionable matters to Tech III and/or supervisor. Must be able to perform all the requirements of the Facilities Technician I position. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in general maintenance with one or more detailed trade experience.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Carpenter/Painter:

Uses and maintains power tools

Repairs drywall and wood walls

Installs and moves doors

Keeps an accurate log and maintains a proper inventory of paint and stain

Prepares surfaces for staining and uses the matching stains

Adheres to strict safety standards in use of chemicals and equipment

General Maintenance:

Diagnoses and corrects plumbing problems

Assists the electrician in rewiring

Campus snow removal and ice mitigation

Installs interior/exterior signs

Assists with the placement and hanging of pictures and white boards throughout the ministry

Repairs damaged or faulty equipment

First responder for all fire alarms and other emergency situations that occur on campus

Diagnoses and repairs all roofing problems

Repairs and replaces floor coverings

Furniture Installation:

Memorizes and uses the basic 600 individual furniture codes proficiently

Assists in maintaining the furniture parts inventory

Creates parts lists and determines impact of construction to surrounding employee stations, by reading construction drawings

Builds modular workstations while minimizing downtime to effected Focus staff

Makes electrical connections within furniture panel system

Makes changes to existing workstations to meet individual user needs

Repairs damaged furniture and reupholsters panels as needed

Electrician:

Designs electric circuits, analyzes electrical problems, and installs any and all electrical equipment

Conducts periodic maintenance on all electrical panels, switching devices, contractors and other electrical equipment

Maintains on site working inventory of electrical maintenance materials such as wire, conduit, conduit fittings, circuit breakers, switches, etc.

Diagnoses and gives direction for repair of building electrical problems

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

Able to be driver for Focus equipment: trucks, tractors, plows, carts, front loaderDrives forklifts and pallet jacks in warehouse and office environment Operates small and large equipment and tools Is willing to work on Furniture team when needed Performs other duties as assigned

Working Environment/Physical Requirements:

Must be able to pass a Post Offer Prehire Physical exam

Must be able to carry up to 70lbs

Must be able to lift up to 70lbs

Must be able to push/pull up to 50lbs

Must be able to walk 6 hours/day

Requires repetitive tasks/motions, good eye-hand-foot coordination, good manual dexterity, and able to distinguish colors

Must be able to hear alarms/phone/tape recorder/normal speaking voice

Frequently requires climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, crawling, crouching, balancing, and reaching above the head

Exposure to various conditions such as dust, fumes, and temperature extremes

Frequently requires working around exposed electrical connections

Personal Characteristics:

Must be detail oriented, with a strong mechanical aptitude, able to perform multiple tasks

Must have an even temperament that allows for working in a high-pressure environment

Knowledge/Experience:

High school or equivalent plus construction trade school

Certifications of accomplishments in construction

2-4 years of experience in building maintenance, modular furniture installation, or construction

Skills, Abilities, and Special Talents/Gifts:

Ability to read construction blueprints and generate specifications

ACAD ability a plus

Welding skills a plus

Ability to diagnose, research and repair systems and failures as needed

Ability to establish and maintain rapport with employees in other departments

Ability to work independently without immediate supervision

Ability to operate various construction trades power and hand tools

Ability to occasionally operate heavy equipment, i.e. forklifts, tractors, large trucks
