As an Electrician, you willinstall, connect, test, and sustain electrical systems for a variety ofpurposes, including climate control, security, and communications. Inaddition, you will figure layout, install, and repair wiring,electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment, such asswitches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels, fastening in place withscrews or bolts, using hand tools and power tools.Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provideaccess for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, andunreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes. Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or followsdiagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed beforecompletion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring. Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electricalconduit, using tools, such as hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bender. Pulls wiring through conduit, assisted by electrician helper. Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, using knife orpliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape orterminal caps. Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment, using hand tools. Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, andinstalls grounding leads. Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety ofcomponents, using testing instruments, such as ohmmeter, battery andbuzzer, and oscilloscope. Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards andneed for adjustments, relocation, or replacement. Repairs faulty equipment or systems.What are we looking for?
