Avantus Federal is looking for an Electrician to support our client Colorado Springs, CO. The primary purpose of this position is: To install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain various electrical distribution systems, Uninterruptible Power Systems, CMAFS Power Plant, CMAFS Substation, controls devices/circuitry, and equipment. Duties include:

Install, repair or replace, modify, load, and test new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, panels, switches, breakers, and controls located in and near installation buildings and structures.
Work on and operate Uninterruptible Power Systems equipment and switchgear.
Work on secondary distribution lines and circuits used to supply distribution panels, switchgears, power and control circuits, and electrical intrusion alarm systems; emergency warning systems; cathodic protection systems; motors and pumps, variable frequency drives, operates and racks out 5KV rated circuit breakers,
Operate 5KV rated EMP disconnect switch, air handling units, 20’–40’ tall parking lot/roadway lights, high intensity lighting systems; and related equipment.
Research, prepare, and implement Hot Tie/Make Before Break, checklists for transferring UPS mission critical loads between supply bus distributions feeds
Perform design reviews of Engineering level electrical work projects to ensure projects will work with existing systems and that CMAFS mission centers and distribution systems are maintained during installation.
Test and maintain emergency lighting systems for proper electrical output.
Troubleshoot problem areas and inspect for defective equipment and faulty wiring. Work from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and maintenance and repair manuals to determine the necessary and proper repairs and/or replacements.
Use and maintain various types of hand and/or power tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, soldering irons, cable pullers, hydraulic benders, and pipe threading machines. In addition, use a wide variety of test equipment including test lamps, multimeters, circuit analyzers, circuit breaker testers, voltage recording meters, meggers, watt meters, ohmeters, and ammeters underground utility locators, and 30’ and 60’ boom lifts.
Ability to obtain and maintain Public trust
Minimum 8 years directly related experience
Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
Knowledge of technical practices in order to plan, lay out, install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of complete systems.
Knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and instruments used in shop and trade practices, and of electrical equipment, i.e., test lamps, multimeters, circuit analyzers, circuit breaker testers, voltage recording meters, meggers, watt meters, ohmeters, and ammeters.
Skill in using and maintaining hand tools such as, screwdrivers, pliers, wirecutters, strippers, cable pullers, drills, soldering irons, and manual or power conduit benders and threaders.
Skill in troubleshooting and tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems.
Ability to use electrical drawings, blueprints, engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams and to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various electrical systems, controls, and equipment without more than normal supervision.
Make repairs from work stands and other hard-to-reach places. Must stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, stretch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lift parts and equipment that weigh up to 20 pounds. Occasionally lift items that weigh over 40 pounds with assistance from other
