General Job DescriptionAerospace material and assembly estimators collect and analyze data in orderto estimate the time, money, materials, and labor required tomanufacture precision aerospace products for machining and sheet metal.Estimators will work closely with customer specifications to arrive ataccurate cost estimates for part production. These estimating efforts willrequire detailed knowledge of machine shop operations and/or precision sheetmetal fabrication tolerances. Attention to detail is the cornerstone of asuccessful estimator and candidate must be able to develop a rapport withcustomers to ensure their needs are being met as well as working withsuppliers to ensure material availability. Processes could include 3 to 5 axismilling, turning, welding, fabrication, and Quality Control. Sheetprocesses could include laser cutting, punching, press breaking, weldingand finishing. Estimators are responsible for creating accurate cycle timeestimates, and manufacturing process planning. This candidate must be ableto work effectively with a team and possess good verbal and writing skills forcreating or updating customer quotations.Essential Duties*Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand close tolerance partrequirements.*Must have a minimum of 2 years Shoptech E2 ERP systems experience.*Have 5yrs+ of working knowledge of modern CNC machining or sheet metal fabcapabilities.*Basic knowledge of MS Office suite and good computer skills.*Must be able to manage multiple project demands simultaneously.*Good math skills and reading comprehension of complex instructions.*Must be able to analyze CAD drawings or other electronic mediums forspecifications.*Identify and quantify all material and labor requirements for production.*Must be able to work with vendors to achieve accurate materials pricing andlead-times.Work EnvironmentJob is typically performed in an office environment using multiple computeroperating systems. May also include time on manufacturing floor where exposureto noise, fumes, metals, coolants and other manufacturing processes ispossible.
