Douglas County Government Fleet Supervisor in Castle Rock, Colorado

This is a working supervisory position performing a variety of complexmechanical maintenance tasks along with work planning, implementing,coordinating, and supervising all Fleet Services operations for DouglasCounty. Duties will also include analysis of data, providing training andgeneral support Fleet Services staffHours: Tuesday to Friday 7:00a - 5:30pESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following examples areillustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive.)Responsible for supervising and performing the maintenance and repair of allDouglas County Fleet assets assigned to all shop locations.Responsible for the radio equipment and installations of all vehicles andequipment. Management of life cycle and recommendations of all non-DCSO radiosand equipment to align with Sheriff's Office.Implements and monitors a scheduled preventative maintenance program to ensurecost effectiveness and compliance with manufacturers specifications.Oversees a complete inventory system through FASTER by recording of allexpenditures, maintenance equipment, fuel, repair parts, supplies, etc.Supervises the operations and inventory controls of the parts and lube roomsfor all shops.Analyzes each departments vehicle and equipment utilization within FASTER toensure that proper maintenance plans are followed.Implements and oversees a mechanic training program and retains mechaniccertifications to stay current within industry repair standards and allapplicable laws.Ensures compliance with County safety practices and procedures and ensuresemployees receive safety training.Examines work orders and reports for accuracy and completeness on each repairrequest received.Supervises daily downtime repairs for all shops and manages "Shop TurnAround" to 0-24 Hrs., 24-48 Hrs., and 48+ Hrs.Monitors and manages FASTER "Open Work Order by Status" within each shopdaily.Participates in the hiring of subordinate staff. Conducts and/or coordinatesorientation, training, and ongoing education programs for all FleetServices staff. Provides instructions and guidance, coordinates workschedules, and approves timesheetsSupervises the Warranty work and recalls with the appropriate assistantsupervisor with all the manufacturers.Directs the preparation and documentation of all annual inspections andensures the proper filing of documents with the appropriate authority.Regulates the preparation and documentation of the self-emissions program andensures the proper filing of documents.Assists in the development of the Fleet Services budget to include review ofthe past budget and the forecasting needs for future budgets.Assists all departments in the development of specifications for vehicles andequipment to be utilized by Douglas County.Provides backup and support to subordinates as needed or when on vacation.Other duties assigned as needed.SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Receives periodic supervision from the Fleet Manager.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Has supervision over assistant supervisors,mechanics, and inventory specialists. Responsible for the overalldirection, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT: Must be able to make knowledgeable decisionsindependently to ensure all operational needs are met and that staff issupervised in accordance with established principles and standards. Mustconsult with Fleet Manager and/or Facilities Director on all higher-leveldecisions.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or GED supplemented byseven years of auto/diesel mechanical education or experience, three yearsexperience in supervision and management of a diverse fleet along withpreventative maintenance plans in a fleet management system.
