West South Platte LLC Distribution System Operator in Brighton, Colorado

Job DescriptionUnder the direction of the Distribution System Manager and in compliance withall state and federal regulations, operates the distribution system. Thisposition is a non-supervisory position and requires appropriate technicaltraining to perform.Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week with on-call and overtime as needed.Benefits: Vacation and sick leave as well as health, dental, vision,life and 401k.Salary Range:Entry Level - 31,200 - 35,360Class 1 - 35,360 to 39,520Class 2 - 39,520 to 45,760Class 3 - 45,760 to 52,000Class 4 - 52,000 to 58,240Pay rates are based off licensing and experience, and are negotiated. Earningthe next level of license will advance your pay to the lower end of thatlicense pay scale.DutiesOperates and maintains water distribution system including servicing ofpumps, motors, valves, generators, and pipeline equipment.Exercises system blow-off valves, air-vacuum valves, and in-line valves asscheduled.Cleans out and maintains system reservoirs as scheduled.Maintains pump stations and operation and maintenance facilities includingmowing, snow removal, cleaning, painting, and any other associated tasks.Becomes familiar with safety guidelines and utilizes them in the workplace.Inspects, where necessary, the work of TCVMD contractors and othercontractors (i.e., oil pipeline, cable tv, telephone) where TCVMDequipment or property are involved.Locate TCVMD equipment and pipelines when necessary for contractors andlandowners.Maintain activity log associated with spare part inventory use (i.e.,ordering, usage, receipt from supplier).Read flow meters, adjust pressure reducing valves, and repair flow meters.Builds and maintains fencing as required for pump stations, reservoirsites, and along pipeline right-of-way.Must be available for and willing to be on call on a 24-hour basis.Must become familiar with the rules, regulations, and policies of the TCVMD.Collect water samples and deliver to the appropriate Laboratory for mandatedtesting.Performs all tasks according to operating plans and written standard operatingprocedures.Performs any other tasks as assigned by the Distribution System Manager.Skills and competenciesBasic to advanced knowledge of hand tools, power tools, waterhydraulics, chemistry, mathematics, plumbing, pumps, valves,motors, filters, and equipment maintenance.Ability to follow and understand safety procedures.The ability to identify, troubleshoot, and repair problems with a highdegree of competency is required.Knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office and SCADA systems.Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.Ability to work without direct supervision.Ability to attend and understand technical courses.Ability to detect problems in equipment operations.Physical and Environmental RequirementsThis position generally works outdoors in snow, rain, mud, rivers,lakes, and roads. Exposure to outdoor Colorado weather conditions occursdaily 365 days a year. This position requires but is not limited to thefollowing, the ability move heavy objects, stand, walk, push,pull, lift, carry, crouch, knee, and climb repeatedly and forextended periods of time. Hazards include but are not limited to workingaround or with hazardous chemicals, high (elevated) locations,traffic, heavy equipment, tight or confined spaces, and working aroundhigh preEducation and certifications requirementsA current class 1 - class 4 Certified Distribution System Operators Licensethrough the State of Colorado is required. If a license is not held it must beobtained within 3 months of employment.
