Kelly Services Maintenance Technician in Boulder, Colorado

Kelly Engineering is seeking a Maintenance Technician for one of our top clients in Boulder, CO.

Purpose of job:

To ensure that all, equipment, machinery, tools and facilities necessary for the company to meet all customer and legal obligations are available and in good working order. Technician seeks to proactively minimize equipment downtime by defining and administering preventative maintenance programs, as well as responding to and repairing down equipment as reported. Technician strives to improve reliability, efficiency, and capacity of all process and facility equipment.


Technician prioritizes tasks according to the following:

  1. Company-wide safety and environmental compliance

  2. Maintenance and repair of production equipment

  3. Support of the Production Department in achieving production schedules; including shipping, receiving, warehousing and product manufacture.

  4. Company facilities and grounds maintenance

Technician has the authority to stop any process or activity identified as an environmental health or safety risk, or as a risk to the long-term operability of tools, equipment, or facilities. In such case, the Technician notifies the Operations Manager or Engineer immediately.

Technician has the authority to coach and train company employees on proper use and care of tools and production/facilities equipment and does so frequently.

Technician will submit Purchase Order Request Forms (PORFs) to the Operations Manager for approval

Measurement and review

The success of this role is measured using a number of Key Performance Indicators. These may be varied from time to time but include:

  • Equipment downtime

  • EH&S incidents and improvement

  • Performance to budget/GM

  • Compliance to company policies including EH&S, ITAR and QMS

Goals and targets are set and reviewed annually. Overall performance is formally reviewed in accordance with the company appraisal program. Informal reviews are held several times a year. At these appraisals specific objectives are agreed for the coming period. Performance is tracked regularly, documented, and incentives and raises are based accordingly on the outcome of performance.


Technician is a champion and leader of all aspects of equipment and facilities care, including equipment or facilities maintenance, repair, upkeep, use, and hygiene.

Technician maintains maintenance logs for all production equipment and updates them weekly or as needed to document repair history and track root causes of equipment failure.

Technician records and documents all maintenance activities on hard copy and electronic Maintenance Work Orders, PM and Maintenance logs, as well as EHS forms and logs as appropriate.

Technician cooperates with the Operations Team, Engineer, vendors, and outside support consultants as needed to ensure continuous improvement of EH&S, production efficiency, and quality of general facilities and equipment.

Technician interacts with all departments on a daily basis or as needed, to review and support company activities and goals in respect to tool, machine, equipment, and facility needs.

Matters of importance are communicated accurately, concisely and in a timely manner to all relevant persons.

Technician maintains a positive attitude and professional demeanor in a dynamic work environment.


Technician is part of Operations Department, reporting directly to the Operations Manager.

Technician cooperates with Operations Team, Engineer, and QA/QC Team to support planned production schedules and ensure availability of operational and safe equipment.

Technician works with all company employees to maintain, support, and train regarding company facilities and equipment upkeep and use.
