Tile Setter/Slab Installer Journeyman
Position Title:Tile Setter/Slab Installer Journeyman
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly
Reporting Relationship:Foreman and/or Project Manager
A Tile Setter/Slab Installer Journeyman cuts, tools, and sets tile/slab in floors and walls of buildings and repairs and polishes tiles/slab previously set in buildings.
Trims, faces, and cuts tile/slab to specified size
Determine and implement the best layout to achieve a desired pattern.
Finish and dress the joints and wipe excess grout from between tile/slab, using damp sponge.
Cut, surface, polish and install tile and granite or install pre-cast terrazzo, granite or tile units.
Mix, apply, and spread plaster, concrete, mortar, cement, mastic, glue or other adhesives to form a bed for the tiles, using brush, trowel and screed.
Apply mortar to tile back, position the tile/slab and press or tap with trowel handle to affix tile to base.
Level and allow to dry.
Polishes tile and other ornamental stone to high luster.
Other duties as assigned by the project manager.
·3-5 years of equivalent work experience and/or trade school
Strong knowledge of tile and slab material
Must have own tools
·Attention to detail with demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness
·Conserves materials and meets productivity set forth by supervisors
- Observes all safety procedures, reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses and maintains equipment and materials properly.
