GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIESThe Technician - Engine Testing at SGS - ETC will act as a primary test celloperator in a heavy-duty engine emissions test cell. Typical activities willinclude independent execution of test pans as provided by the engineeringteam, installation of engines in the test cell, and maintaining labequipment. This position will require significant time spent in engine testcelTesting will be focused on heavy-duty engines, but may involve testing abroad range of engine types. Projects may include performance and emissionsdevelopment, calibration, and/or validation and compliance testing. Inmany cases, test results may be used to demonstrate emissions conformity tostate and federal agencies, and will be conducted in compliance with 40 CFRPart 1065 and other relevant regulations.The Technician - Engine Testing is expected to always act with integrity,strive for the highest in data quality, and fully support the testing process.RESPONSIBILITIESGeneral Professional Responsibilities:* At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.* High attention to detail and highly professional appearance.* Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion.* Regular, consistent and punctual attendance.* Ability to work nights, weekends, and variable schedule(s) as necessary.Technical Responsibilities:* Responsible for executing daily test plans in accordance with customerrequirements and ensuring the test results are of the highest quality andaccuracy* Responsible for monitoring the accuracy and quality of all test datagenerated* Responsible for the installation of engines into the test cell andconfiguration of test bed operation system for safe and optimal testing* Responsible for installing instrumentation, set up of test controlinterface, and various measurement devices, including configuration ofdata channels and test profiles* Become proficient at using the test cell automation systems* Assist facility and instrumentation engineers to maintain emissionsanalyzers and ensure plumbing, air supply, and fuel supply are adequatefor each test configuration* Conduct engine maintenance and component changes* Fabricate and/or modify engine test components as required* Responsible for ma intaining engine and laboratory equipment, andtroubleshooting of lab instrumentation* Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment* Participation in laboratory environment and safety management program* Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.Qualifications:PROFILE* 3+ years of experience in engine and/or vehicle testing for performanceand emissions* Associates degree (or equivalent experience)* Experience in engine or vehicle maintenance, repair, and diagnostictroubleshooting* Skilled use of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel* Ability to approach problems in a scientific manner and implementresolutions with minimal guidance* Ability to work nights, weekends, and variable schedule(s) as necessary* Ability to effectively communicate and articulate ideas, operational &test quality issues to engineers and managers.REQUIRED SKILLS* High level of integrity, ethics, and drive towards customer service withstrong poise, tact, and diplomacy* Strong orientation towards teamwork* Strong Verbal & Written Communication skills* Desire to work in fast paced, rapidly changing and results' orientedenvironment* High ability to manage time to prioritize competing tasks and demands beingable to successfully resolve them* Knowledge regarding the operation and maintenance of diesel / gasolinevehicles or engines* Strong computer skills* Conduct Engine performance and emissions tests in collaboration with anengineer* Ability to approach problems in a scientific manner and implementresolutions with minimal guidance* Able to use motorized equipment to move vehicles and materials.* Able to bend, squat, lift up to 50 lbs. stand or sit for up to two hours.* Use basic hand and power tools to maintain engi
