Wagner Equipment Co., the Caterpillar dealer for Colorado, New Mexico andfar west Texas, is seeking applications for a Diesel Technician in our OnHighway Truck Shop in Aurora, CO. Under minimal supervision, the Class ATechnician is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, reconditioning,overhaul, and maintenance of customer and company on-highway truckengines, electronics, and chassis components. Depending on location andassignment, the technician will be responsible for some or all of thefunctions and duties listed below.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIESAdministrative:Prepares accurate and complete service reports and turns them in on timePrepares and completes all related inspection forms for on-highway tractorsand trailersEffectively communicates with customers and peers verbally and in writingAccurately completes time cards and other work station functionsCorrectly charges work to appropriate work order segmentsUses SIS (Service Information System) and orders correct parts, as wellas properly uses Caterpillar web sitesKeeps and maintains all information while on a job and utilizes current shopprocesses to retain and track informationPerforms work in a neat and professional mannerInterpersonal:Communicates effectively with Service Writer, Shop Coordinators, and ShopManagers to ensure problems, nature of repair, and status of repair areunderstood and followed up onSales:Promotes additional work and services to customersTechnical:Diagnoses and troubleshoots engine and on-highway truck malfunctions andfailuresAnalyzes customer repair and maintenance requirements on engines and chassisPerforms work accurately within close proximity of TRG and with minimal reworkKeeps up to date with developments in tooling, technologies, and systemsUses safe working practices and follows all company safety requirementsMaintains a clean and organized work areaPerforms maintenance activities on new and rebuilt/repaired equipmentMakes recommendations as to repairs meeting warranty criteriaMakes parts replacement decisions assuring optimum economic reusabilityUnderstands Caterpillar Electronic Engine Control systems and properlytroubleshoots and repairs systemsUnderstands Caterpillar On-Highway emissions systems and completes diagnosisand repair with minimal supervisionUses Caterpillar web-based information to properly repairCompletes and passes ALL the Caterpillar online training available for theappropriate areaWillingness to learn new technologies and proceduresSupervisory:Provides direction, training, mentoring, and guidance to othertechnicians as may be assigned by service supervisorsESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTSMinimum Education Required:High School Diploma or GED andGraduation from anaccredited technical school in diesel engine or earthmoving repair preferredMinimum Experience Required: Four years in heavy equipment, engine orelectric power generation system repairCertificates, Licenses and Registrations Required:CDL (will be required to advance from B to A)609 Air Conditioning CertificationAir Brake CertificationDOT Inspector QualificationsPreferred Skills and Competencies:Understanding of Caterpillar warranty programs and coverageBasic ability to search for and enter data into a computer.
